Punjab Agricultural University signs MoA on its surface seeder tech

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has entered into a pact with Roop Agriculture Works, Mansa, for the commercialisation of its surface seeder technology. Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, and Mandeep Singh from Roop Agriculture Works signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on behalf of their respective organizations.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, vice-chancellor, congratulated the firm for entering into collaboration with the PAU, aimed at preserving soil health and the environment. In-situ management of paddy straw had been termed as a ‘golden’ process that not only mitigated stubble burning but also added to the health and productivity of the soil, he added.
Dr Dhatt termed the PAU surface seeder technology as a cost-effective method for sowing wheat in time without burning paddy residue.
Dr Mahesh Narang, head, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering; Dr Hari Ram, head, Department of Agronomy; and Dr JS Gill, agronomist, provided the details regarding the technology. They said its the benefits included good crop stand with no-lodging, weather resistance, water conservation and curtailed use of herbicides.
