The women’s basketball team of the College of Community Science (COCS), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), secured the first position in the Inter-College Women’s Basketball Tournament, held from November 24-27.
The COCS team outperformed the teams from all the five constituent colleges. This win marked the college’s first championship victory since 2019, proudly continuing its sporting legacy. The winning team, comprising Prabhnoor Kaur, Harleen Kaur, Jasnoor Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Yashika, Khushi, Taranpreet Kaur, and Gehna, showcased exceptional teamwork, strong defence, and consistent performance under pressure, leading the college to a remarkable triumph.
Jasnoor, a team member, said that the girls were on cloud nine after the win as their hard work had finally paid off. “It is the result of their consistent training that they are able to register this win,” she said.
Vice-Chancellor Dr SS Gosal congratulated the team and said that it was a proud moment as the college had clinched the championship victory after six years.
Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, commended the students for their dedication and discipline, calling the win a reflection of the college’s holistic development approach.
Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, appreciated the team’s spirited effort and reiterated PAU’s commitment to promoting sports and students’ well-being.
The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from all the constituent colleges and encouraged the students to actively engage in sports and co-curricular activities.
