Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has inked a pact with Sri Muktsar Sahib-based entrepreneur for commercialisation of multigrain atta for diabetics.

Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Additional Director of Research, PAU, and Karamjit Singh, a representative of the firm, signed the memorandum of agreement (MoA) on behalf of their respective institution and organisation.

Dr Savita Sharma, Head, Department of Food Science and Technology, PAU, said, “The formulation, having a huge market demand, has been developed from grains with low glycemic index and standardised for preparation of chapatti. It is also suitable for several indigenous cereal products such as parantha, puri, etc.”

Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Food Technologist, PAU, said, “Multigrain atta for diabetics is a formulation made using several grains. Developed by scientists of the Department of Food Science and Technology, formulation has been found to have suitable functional and shelf-life characteristics.” Dr Dharni said, “The university has signed more than 400 MoAs for propagating its technologies from labs to markets.”
