AICA, IPS boys emerge victorious in kabaddi

Amrit Indo-Canadian Academy (AICA), Ladian Kalan, and International Public School (IPS), Civil City, emerged victorious in kabaddi (national style) in the boys’ U-14 and 17 sections, respectively, in the ongoing block-level games of the third edition of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan being organised by the Punjab Sports Department under the aegis of Sports and Youth Services, Punjab, with the help of district administration at different venues across the district on Sunday.

At the ground, outside multipurpose indoor hall, opposite Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana (municipal corporation block), in the boys’ U-14 section, AICA was followed by the Bal Bharti School and St Soldier Divine School in the second and third place, respectively, while in the U-17 category, IPS boys were followed by AICA to finish as the runners-up.

In the girls’ U-14 section, Government High School, Ayali Kalan; in U-17 group, BVM School, Kithclu Nagar, emerged the winners while in kabaddi (circle style) in the boys’ U-17 section, Government High School, Ayali Kalan came out triumphant.

In athletics at Guru Nanak Stadium, in 200m race for U-17 boys, Harinandan finished ahead of others to clinch the top position, in 800m race, Vaibhav Bhola, in 3,000m race, Ankit Kumar emerged victors while in the girls’ U-17 category, in 200m race, Amaanat Sidhu, in 800m race, Naroish Sohi bagged the top positions and in long jump event, Jaismeen Kaur proved too good for her opponents.

Amit Sareen, ADC and nodal officer, municipal corporation block, was the chief guest today. He encouraged the participants and interacted with the officials, deputed to conduct these games.

At GSSS, Siahar village (Malout block), Abhitoj Singh (1,500m race), Jashanpreet Singh (100m race), Balraj Singh (shot put), Sultan Mohd (800m race) emerged winners in the boys’ U-17 section while in the girls’ section, Parminder Kaur (1,500m race), Rasmeet Kaur (shot put) and Gurleen Kaur (800m race) proved their mettle to clinch the top honours.

At the Bhambipura stadium, in Jagraon block, in kho-kho (boys’ U-14), Harkrishan Public School, Kamaalpura village, romped home and Convent School, Hathoor village, secured the second position.

In Machhiwra block, at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, in football (boys’ U-14), Gujjrawal village, and in the girls’ U-17 section (kho-kho), Garden Well School emerged winners.

In Pakhowal block, in the 31-40 years group (football), Sports Club, Latala, annexed the title, in the boys’ U-14 section, Gujjarwal village, in U-17 group, Gujjarwal village again won the top positions while in the men’s 31-40 years category, Sports Club, Latala village, emerged triumphant.
