Amritsar and Patiala districts came out victorious in the boys’ sections in lawn tennis (team event) during the 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Games being organised by the Punjab Education Department at Jassowal Kular village near here on Tuesday.
At Harvest Tennis Academy courts, in the boys’ U-14 category, Patiala got the better of hosts Ludhiana 2-0 to emerge as champions while Bathinda finished as the second runners-up and Jalandhar had to content with the fourth position.
In the boys U-17 section, Amritsar faced some anxious moments before coming out triumphant 2-1 against Ropar and bagged the top position. Jalandhar and Patiala secured third and fourth positions, respectively.
However, in the U-19 group, Amritsar recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory against Ludhiana to lay their hands on the winners’ trophy while Bathinda and Jalandhar boys bagged the third and fourth positions, respectively.
Now, the competitions in two disciplines, chess and kho-kho, will be held from October 30.
