Anganwadi workers from across the state staged a massive protest on Ferozepur Road. They demanded that the promise of doubling the honorarium made by the government to them be declared as soon as possible. Other demands included giving workers the status of nursery teachers, doubling mobile allowance and a food truck facility.

MLA Manvinder Singh Giaspura accepted the workers demand letter. They were promised a meeting with the Chief Minister on June 18. The protesters announced if the government did not accept any demand, a massive struggle would be launched.

In another protest, 168 candidates who were selected for Director of Physical Education (DPE) posts staged a protest in Ludhiana today, demanding the immediate issuance of joining letters from the Punjab Education Department.

The protest took place outside the office of AAP candidate for West bypoll Sanjeev Arora on Ferozepur Road, where the selected candidates—qualified and awaiting joining for last two years—raised slogans and held placards, urging the government to fulfil its promise.

One protester climbed atop a water tank with a placard as a sign of protest. Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met the protesters and assured them their grievances would be addressed on Monday.
