The alleged insult of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha by Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sanjeev Arora during his election campaign in the city has sparked sharp criticism, with Harjinder Singh Bobby Garcha, president of the Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Foundation and spokesperson for the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), calling the act “highly shameful and condemnable.”

In a statement to the media, Garcha said Arora, in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the entire party high command, made derogatory remarks about the revered martyr and failed to even recall his name.

“The Aam Aadmi Party has brought a candidate from Gurgaon, Delhi, who has insulted our martyrs. Someone who doesn’t even know the names of our heroes cannot be expected to uphold their ideology,” said Garcha.

He warned that if Arora fails to issue a public apology, the Shaheed Sarabha Foundation would not only oppose his election campaign but also gherao (surround) him in protest.

Garcha accused the AAP of fielding outsiders with no knowledge of Punjab’s history, culture, or martyrs. “Such candidates mock Punjabiyat and are disconnected from the state’s ethos. Punjabis must unite to protect our legacy and expose these individuals,” he asserted.
