Police DAV School, Civil Lines, in the boys’ section and DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, in the girls’ section recorded victories in the U-14 category on the opening day of the Ludhiana District Open Basketball Championship being held here at Guru Nanak Stadium on Thursday.
Police DAV School boys faced strong resistence from Guru Nanak Club before wrapping up the issue 25-22 while DAV Public School girls too faced a tough fight against Doraha Club but eventually stitched up a 10-8 victory.
A large number of teams are taking part in the boys’ and girls’ groups (U-14 and U-17) in this tournament. Performance during this tournament will be taken into consideration while finalising Ludhiana teams for the upcoming Punjab State Basketball Championship.

Girls’ (U-14): Sacred Heart School beat Doraha Academy 17- 6 and Guru Nanak Club beat Doraha Club 18-10,
Boys’ (U-17): DAV Public School, BRS Nagar beat Jagraon Club 22-6, Multipurpose Club beat Government Senior Secondary School, Threeke 47-16, BCM Arya Club beat Multipurpose School, Ludhiana 26-24 and Green Land Club beat DCM Presidency Club 20-13.
Girls’ (U-17): DAV Public School, BRS Nagar beat Unirise World School 26-16, Baba Ishar Singh School beat DCM Presidency 12-7,
