Bhaie Lalo Manch activists convene at Dehlon
Office-bearers and activists of the various outfits associated with Bhaie Lalo Manch vowed to spread awareness on the allegedly anti-people policies of the successive governments and mobilise residents to join the struggle launched against the state government and the Centre.
An oath was taken during the concluding session of a convention held at Dehlon on Monday. Buta Singh and Pamma Jassowal chaired the inaugural and concluding sessions, respectively.
Speakers including former MLA Tarsem Singh Jodhan, and Manch leaders Kewal Singh and Hazara Singh alleged that the successive governments had been exploiting innocent residents in an effort to appease and benefit their masters in the corporate sector.
Unemployment, illiteracy, economic crisis, politicisation of administration and social anarchy were cited as major consequences of the persistent deterioration in moral character of political leaders.
“Politicians have exploited the name of martyrs to grab power, none of them ever bothered to lay the foundation for establishing a state and nation the likes of Shaheed Bhagat Singh had dreamed of,” Jodhan said, appreciating that residents of the border state had now made up their minds to vote only for ‘genuine’ leaders.
Speakers alleged the cumulative effect of migration of Punjabi youth to foreign countries and complementary immigration of natives of other states, had drastically changed the demography of the state.
Speakers said the draft programme of the coordinated movement and struggle against traditional political parties would be announced during the state-level convention scheduled to be held in Jalandhar on October 16.
Two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to Sitaram Yechury on the occasion. MGNREGA Adhikar Andolan Punjab’s Charanjit Himanyupur, Parkash Singh Hissowal and Dr Jasvir Kaur Jodhan also spoke on the occasion.
