The Railways and Food Processing Minister, Ravneet Singh Bittu, expressed confidence that Ludhiana voters would elect a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) mayor, supported by a majority of BJP councillors, in the impending municipal corporation elections. During a campaign for BJP candidates Ruchi Vishal Gulati in Ward No. 73 and Deeksha Batra in Ward No. 9, Bittu emphasised the party’s commitment to development and progress.
Bittu highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, BJP has transformed the nation into a global power with its visionary ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) agenda. “Ludhiana, as the commercial capital of the state, needs robust development to address the growing demands of its population and industries. A BJP mayor will ensure direct access to the Prime Minister, facilitating major projects for the city,” Bittu stated.
He outlined several key initiatives, including 24-hour drinking water supply, advanced sewage treatment plants, effective solid waste management, improved road infrastructure, crime reduction, and plans for an international airport and a worldclass railway station. Bittu also pointed out Ludhiana had already benefited from significant projects under the Smart City Mission. “A BJP mayor will bring even greater progress and prosperity to Ludhiana,” he added.
Bittu criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for failing to deliver on its promises, particularly pointing to the party’s inability to pay employee salaries in the state. “What has AAP done for Ludhiana in the past two-and-a-half years? Can they point to even one significant development project they have initiated,” he asked. Bittu stressed most major projects in the state are funded either entirely by the Central Government or through cost-sharing arrangements with the state. “The AAP government in the state is dysfunctional and lacks a vision for the state’s development,” he said, urging Ludhiana voters to support BJP in the upcoming municipal elections for a brighter, more prosperous future.
In response to the opposition allegations that Home Minister Amit Shah had insulted Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Bittu stated, “The opposition is spreading baseless lies. They have a history of disrespecting Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was forced to resign as India’s Law Minister. The details of this are well-documented and Ambedkar wrote extensively about it. Amit Shah has exposed the conspiracies the opposition orchestrated against Babasaheb Ambedkar. Over the past two days of debate on the Constitution, the opposition’s actions and legacy have been thoroughly exposed. Now, frustrated by the truth, they are misinterpreting Amit Shah’s statements,” he added.
