A case was registered in October 2024 against Surinder’s brother Jasbir Singh Riyat on the complaint of Chamkaur Singh of Baba Nand Singh Nagar. Both brothers are auto spare parts manufacturers.

SHO, Sarabha Nagar, Aditya Sharma, said a complaint was filed in this regard in July 2024 in which the complainant had alleged that Jasbir Singh Riyat had entered a deal regarding a land at Ayali Kalan village with Chamkaur but the suspect, despite taking the money, failed to transfer the full ownership.

On January 27, 2025, the case was recommended to be cancelled with the approval of the then Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana. Afterwards, complainant Chamkaur filed a complaint in December 2024 to seek fair re-investigation. Following this a re-inquiry was done by the ADCP-Investigation, Ludhiana, and after DA Legal, Ludhiana’s opinion, the case was opened for re-investigation in May against Jasbir Singh Riyat and others, the SHO added.

The SHO said during investigation, Surinder Riyat was also nominated on October 11, 2025, and he was arrested recently while his brother Jasbir was still at large in the case.
