He met people and heard their problems. While campaigning, Gupta claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had done for Punjab what no other government had ever done. In the true sense, the Modi government was the biggest advocate of Punjab and Punjabi, he said.
Gupta said for about 60-65 years since Independence, Punjab has been ruled by Congress or non-BJP parties, but no one showed sensitivity towards the state. It was only during Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister that work started on all the pending issues of Punjab. The demand for opening the Kartarpur Corridor was long-pending but neither the Congress nor the Akali Dal government gave it priority. But the Modi government got the corridor opened, he said.
The Prime Minister’s respect for Punjabi culture and ethos is evident from the fact that he never misses to pay respect to Sikh Gurus on any religious festival and respects their sentiments, Gupta said, adding that the BJP was committed to restoring the values of development, brotherhood, nationalism, drug eradication and mutual harmony.
Attacking AAP, Gupta said the representatives of the party wanted to win the elections by misusing the government machinery. But the people of Ludhiana would not let their intentions be fulfilled.
