Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsA week after the Ludhiana police booked three individuals for obtaining arms licenses by submitting fake dope test certificates, three more individuals have been booked by the police for resorting to the illegal practice.
Among the three, two had already obtained arms licenses, while the third's lies were caught during verification of the arms licenses.
A case was registered on the complaint of the Assistant Commissioner of Police Licensing Ludhiana.
Interestingly, among the booked persons, two are brothers, identified as Sanjiv Malik and Munish Malik, residents of New Shimlapuri.
As per the police, accused Sanjiv Malik had filed an application for addition to his arms license, and he attached a fake dope test certificate.
During internal verification, the certificate was found to be false, while Munish Malik had applied for a new arms license and provided a fake dope test certificate.
The third accused, Sachdev Singh Dhaliwal, resident of Santokh Nagar, Ludhiana, had also attached a fake dope test certificate and already obtained an arms license. Now, the arms licenses of these persons will be canceled by the Police Commissionerate.
Notably, on August 22, Ludhiana police had also booked three persons for submitting fake dope test reports to secure arms licenses. One of them had already managed to obtain a license using forged medical documents before the fraud was caught.
The accused were identified as Hardik Khanna of Lajpat Nagar, Uday Pratap Singh Grewal of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, and Nishan Singh of Dashmesh Nagar. Separate cases were lodged against them at Division Number 5 police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including cheating, forgery, and the use of forged documents.
In Grewal’s case, Section 30 of the Arms Act had already been added, as he successfully obtained a license with a fake report. It is pertinent to mention here that similar cases were also reported in Ludhiana earlier.
On May 13, 2025, a case was registered against Lalit Kumar, a driver-cum-security guard from Sahnewal Kalan, and international shooter Gurnihal Singh Garcha of Model Town for using fake dope test reports. Garcha had also won medals at international championships.
