Building collapses, 2 injured

Panic gripped residents and passersby after a five-storey building collapsed today in the city. The building, about 100 years old, was located at Bandiya Mohalla, Ucchi Gali.

Two persons, a woman and her child, were injured in the mishap and were admitted to a private hospital. The injured have been identified as Khushi Arora and her one-and-a-half-year-old child.

While Khushi suffered a head injury, her child sustained minor injuries. They were admitted to a private hospital and their condition is said to be stable.

A couple of families used to living in the building, but they had vacated the premises yesterday. The neighbours said that they had complained about the dilapidated condition of the building to the owner in the past, but to no avail.

People living in the neighbourhood said the mishap has caused damage to their houses too. The incident took place between 2-3 pm. The police reached the spot and started the investigation.
