Darshan Academy
Darshan Academy, Ludhiana, organised a blessing ceremony for the students of classes X and XII to motivate students for their upcoming board exams. The ceremony began with a heartfelt prayer by teachers and was followed by a video discourse by Sant Rajinder Singh, offering blessings and valuable tips for exam preparations. A peaceful meditation session was conducted to help students calm their minds and focus better. Principal Rajdeep Kaur Aulakh addressed the students and encouraged them, emphasising perseverance and positivity. The event concluded with the distribution of parsad, leaving students spiritually enriched and motivated to excel in their exams.
Arya Samaj Group of Schools
The Arya Samaj Group of Schools organised a donation drive. Under the leadership of president Rakesh Jain, school manager Capt VK Syal, and director Dr Paramjit Kaur, the students distributed warm and woollen clothes among the needy. This noble initiative saw enthusiastic participation from BCM Arya, Shastri Nagar; BCM Arya, Lalton; BCM Arya International; and RS Model Senior Secondary School. The staff and students of these institutions showcased their generosity by contributing warm clothing, which was thoughtfully distributed to underprivileged individuals and schools, spreading warmth and compassion during the cold season. As part of the community outreach programme, students from BCM Arya, guided by environment manager Vipra Kale, embarked on an inspiring journey of giving. Their first stop was the Civil Hospital, where they distributed blankets to patients across various wards, bringing comfort and solace to those in need.
Ryan International School
“It’s a new beginning, a beginning that marks progress, pride, and success.” This is the approach with which the students of classes X and XII of Ryan International School, Jamalpur, Dugri, and Nakodar attended their farewell ceremony on January 17 at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan Auditorium. Gaiety and nostalgia marked the atmosphere of the function, which added to the school memories of the Ryanites. Touching scenes were witnessed as Ryanites were addressed by their mentor, managing director Grace Pinto, who came to bless the students before their board exams. She interacted with the students and guided them about their future life. She mentored them to keep their parents and teachers in high regard. A candlelight ceremony was held wherein students of Class XII passed the flame to the students of Class XI, symbolising the passing of the enlightened ideas and carrying forward the ever-radiating torch of knowledge.
Guru Nanak Dev Engg College
Entrepreneurship Day was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm by IIC-Ecell of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Ludhiana. The event marked the rise of the Indian startup ecosystem. There was a live YouTube telecast of the function organised at the national level in which the AICTE Chairman and Vice Chairman spoke. The theme of the event was ‘The Golden Era of Startups.’. The keynote speaker was Dr Munish Jindal, CEO of Hover Robotix and MentorX. Welcoming the guests, Dr Arvind Dhingra, convener, IIC-Ecell, said the Indian startup scene had seen a tremendous rise in recent years, showing an impressive increase in the number of startups and also the number of unicorns. In his address, Dr Jindal exhorted the students to dream big and work relentlessly to achieve their dreams. He stressed that failures were opportunities to learn and correct our strategies to grow. Dr Narwant Singh Grewal, HOD (ECE), proposed the formal vote of thanks. Dr Sehijpal Singh, Principal, appreciated the efforts of IIC-Ecell and stressed that entrepreneurship-based programmes shall be organised in the future, too.
Malwa Central College
The Red Ribbon Club of Malwa Central College of Education for Women organised a rally to raise awareness about the prevention of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS. The rally was conducted in collaboration with the students of Government High School, Ayali Kalan. School students actively participated alongside 20 college students, showing great enthusiasm and commitment to the cause. The event was guided by Dr Tripta, in charge of the Red Cross Club, and co-incharge Dr Sona Thakur. The rally received valuable support from Sarpanch Surinder Singh, whose contributions were instrumental in its successful organisation. Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Principal, Government High School, Ayali Kalan, also supported the event, ensuring that her students were actively involved and contributed to its success.
Green Land Convent School
Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, Ludhiana, added another jewel to its crown with a stellar performance in the Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex (Central Zone) Hindi Declamation Competition by bagging the first runner-up trophy. The event witnessed participation from more than 20 students across two categories. Harleen, a Class VII student, participated in the event and spoke on the topic ‘Anger Among Youth Invites Addiction.’ She secured the first runner-up trophy. Her presentation, on how growing anger among youth often led to destructive behaviours like substance abuse, was both insightful and thought-provoking. Hargun, a student of Class XI, spoke on ‘The Impact of Artificial Intelligence.’ She emphasised how AI had revolutionised various industries, making tasks more efficient, improving healthcare, and enhancing everyday life. However, she also highlighted the negative aspects of it, such as job displacement, privacy concerns, and the ethical dilemmas. Chairman Rajesh Rudhra expressed pride in the students' accomplishments, while Principal Jyoti Sachdev Pujara lauded the participants for their exceptional performances.
HVM CONVENT SCHOOL
In an effort to combat the growing menace of plastic pollution and non-segregation of waste, HVM Convent Senior Secondary School, Karamsar Colony, New Subhash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, Ludhiana, launched a comprehensive campaign under the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' aimed at raising awareness and promoting eco-friendly alternatives to plastic. Speaking at the event, Anju Bala from the Health Branch of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation emphasised that plastic pollution was a challenge that could no longer be ignored and added that plastic pollution had become a critical global issue, threatening ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. Single-use plastics, in particular, contributed significantly to the crisis. Effective segregation into biodegradable, recyclable, and non-recyclable categories could mitigate these effects, while boosting resource recovery, she said. School president DP Sharma, Chairman S Dilbag Singh and all members of the management said the local administration should implement strict measures to phase out plastic.
