Malwa Central College
Ludhiana: The Science Society at Malwa Central College of Education for Women, in association with Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha, celebrated National Science Day on February 28. The programme started with shabad recital. Dr Mandeep Kaur, incharge of the society implored BEd students to create such an environment in their classrooms which would make their students independent thinkers and problem solvers. Savneet spoke on the theme of National Science Day 2025 ‘Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat’. Arshdeep spoke about the importance and applications of science in day-to-day life. Kiran recited a poem related to the theme and Divya presented the life sketch of Kalpana Chawla. To sensitise the audience about environmental issues and solution, a power point presentation was given by Simranpreet Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur. A nukkad natak was also presented by science students for making the audience aware about the value of science in day-to-day life. Dr Satwant Kaur, officiating principal of the college presided over the function.
Sanmati Govt College
Sanmati Govt College of Science Education and Research, Jagraon, celebrated National Science Day with zeal and enthusiasm. Dr Rajiv Kumar Sehgal apprised the students about the importance of this day and motivated them to adopt critical thinking in life. The students participated in experiment demonstration, poster presentation and PPT presentation on the topics like green chemistry and chemistry in daily life. In the experiment demonstration, Joban Singh of BSc-I bagged the first prize. In poster presentation, Priyanka of MSc-II and in PPT presentation, Yashasvi_BSc-I secured the first prize. Prof Sahil jindal organised the programme for inculcating scientific aptitude among the students. Prof Neha enlightened students about Dr CV Raman who discovered the Raman Effect. The winners of various activities were given certificates on the occasion.
BCM College of Education
The Eco Club of BCM College of Education organised an inter-college declamation and trash to treasure competition on ‘Science for Sustainable Development: Promoting Green Technologies’ to celebrate National Science Day as a tribute to the great Nobel Laureate Sir CV Raman. Principal Dr Monika Dua formally welcomed the chief guest of the day, Dr Tejdeep Kaur Kler, principal ornithologist and head, Department of Zoology, PAU, and esteemed panel of Judges — Associate Prof Honey Walia, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, and Associate Prof Harjeet Kaur, Guru Hargobind College of Education, Raikot. Participants from various colleges of the city participated enthusiastically in the declamation and trash to treasure competitions. Komalpreet Kaur from GNE College was declared first, Harneet from SCD Govt College, Ludhiana, was adjudged second, while Yogita from GTB National College, Dakha, was adjudged third, Simran from DD Jain College of Education and Gurleen Kaur from BCM College of Education received appreciation awards. In the trash to treasure competition Harnam Kaur from Nankana College of Education secured the first position, Harpriya from Govt College (East) secured the second position, Jaismeet Kaur from GNE College, Ludhiana, secured the third position and Gunika received an appreciation award.
Arya College Girls Section
Muskan Kochar, a student of Arya College Girls Section, brought laurels to the institution by securing the first position in Panjab University with 90 per cent marks in BA-III. She secured full marks in Sanskrit. Along with this, Vani Narang secured the second position in the college with 86 per cent and Suman Kumari stood third with 82 per cent marks. Secretary of the college managing committee Dr SM Sharma congratulated the students on the stupendous achievement. Principal Dr Suksham Ahluwalia expressed her elation and wished the students a bright future. Incharge Dr Mamta Kohli felt proud of the remarkable success of the students and hoped that it would be repeated in the future.
MGM Public School
The National Science Day was observed at MGM Public School on February 28. In order to make the students latch onto scientific exploration and to enlighten them about the multifarious researches that transpire in the scientific world, teachers made students undertake various experiments in the science laboratory. They were made cognizant to the physical milieu and the components associated to it. Principal Ranjana Kaushal praised the students for trying their hands at preparing various models and doing experiments.
