DAV School holds ‘Upnayan ceremony’
Ludhiana: DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, marked the auspicious beginning of formal education for its youngest learners with the ‘Upnayan ceremony' (initiation into knowledge) for the newly admitted nursery students. The event beautifully integrated spirituality, tradition and environmental consciousness, fostering an atmosphere of positivity and divine blessings. The ceremony commenced with a ‘hawan yajna’, a sacred Vedic ritual seeking divine blessings for the little ones embarking on their educational journey. Principal JK Sidhu, along with parents and their children, participated in the ritual, offering prayers and seeking wisdom, purity and success for the young learners. The divine energy of the sacred fire, coupled with the fragrance of incense and ‘hawan samagri’, added to the sanctity of the moment. The distribution of ‘prasad’ further enriched the experience, instilling values of gratitude and devotion in the young minds. To commemorate this special milestone, each child left handprints on a sheet — an artistic and heartfelt expression symbolising their presence and new beginning. This touching gesture celebrated individuality while becoming a cherished addition to the school's legacy. Reinforcing the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship, students, along with their parents, were presented with saplings, symbolising the value of nurturing both knowledge and nature. This thoughtful act encouraged a sense of responsibility, emphasising the importance of sustainability and environmental care from an early age.
