Ludhiana: Teej celebrates nature’s bounty, the arrival of clouds and rain, greenery and birds, getting together with friends and telling stories, dressing up with henna-coloured hands and feet, and wearing red, yellow or green clothes. Haryali Teej was celebrated with enthusiasm at BCM School, Chandigarh road. The students participated in an array of activities. In a ‘dress and address competition’, students dressed up as gabrus and mutiyaars and made the audience aware of the auspicious occasion. Sutlej House emerged as the winner in the inter-house gidda competion. A ‘turban and parnada tying competition’ was also organised. Students also participated in activities like ‘3D scenes of haryali teej’ and ‘henna designs on paper’. In the foundation block, mothers of the tiny tots participated in ramp walks and were also engaged in various other entertaining games. The students captivated the audience with their energetic dances set to traditional Teej songs. Principal DP Guleria lauded the efforts of the students, teachers and parents. He stated that such celebrations played a vital role in preserving our rich cultural heritage.
Victoria public school
Victoria Public School, Lehra, organised a workshop on ‘effective teaching and creating a stress-free environment for teachers’. The workshop featured Varun Lamba as the resource person, who drew upon his personal experiences to deliver an engaging and interactive session. During the workshop, Lamba highlighted the essential support systems that teachers require, emphasising the importance of physical, mental and emotional readiness in their professional lives. He discussed strategies for prioritising tasks and staying focused on goals, offering practical advice and examples to help educators thrive in their roles.
Bhartiya vidya mandir
To shine a spotlight on the issues affecting the youth and to amplify their voices on the global stage, Bharitiya Vidya Mandir, Sector 39, observed the International Youth Day with enthusiasm. The year’s theme was ‘From clicks to progress: Youth digital pathways for sustainable development’. The theme emphasised the crucial role of digital technology in empowering the youth to drive sustainable development. To further this, school’s cultural and heritage club of the school organised a series of activities like role play, flash cards games, poster-making, slogan-writing and one-act play.
Khalsa college for women
Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, observed the National Library Day on the campus. The day marks the birth anniversary of the father of library science Dr S R Ranganathan. Students were apprised of the importance of library and books. They were encouraged to visit the school library and to inculcate the healthy habit of reading books. Principal Dr Kamaljit Grewal urged the students to whet their curiosity with books.
Spring dale public school
Spring Dale Public School students experienced success at the the 68th Zonal Level School Games 2024-25. The students exhibited outstanding talent and dedication, securing top positions across various categories. The positions secured are as follows: Volleyball: First position in girls’ U-17, second position in girls’ U-14 and third position in girls’ and boys’ U-19. Handball: First position in boys’ U-14 and 17, second in girls’ U-17 and boys’ U-19 and third position in girls’ U-19. Badminton: Second position in boys’ U-19 and third in girls’ U-14.
