The Department of Biotechnology organised a lecture-cum-workshop on "Mining Biological Information Using Bioinformatics and Safeguarding Using IPRs" on January 28, 2025, for BSc (Hons) Biotechnology students. Dr Alla Singh, Scientist/Agricultural Biotechnologist at the Indian Institute of Maize Research, PAU Campus, Ludhiana, was the resource person for the event. The event began with a warm inaugural ceremony, graced by the respected Principal, followed by an insightful lecture by the esteemed speaker. Dr Singh emphasised the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in fostering innovation within the biotechnology field. The workshop portion of the event included demonstrations on various bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, SWISS Model, PPI3D, IUPRED, STRING Database, and patent filing techniques for mining biological data. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants during the valedictory ceremony.

Sri Aurobindo College Students Excel

The diligence and perseverance of both students and faculty at Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management paid off as BBA 5th semester students achieved remarkable results. The college proudly announced that four students secured top university ranks in Panjab University. Anika Sehgal clinched the 4th position, Pranav Gupta secured the 11th position, Ishita Jindal obtained the 12th position, and Vidushi Chawla bagged the 15th position in the university.

CT University Hosts Police Awards

CT University hosted the "Heroes in Khakhi" Police Awards Ceremony to honour the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of the Police Department. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Shubham Agarwal, DCP Ludhiana, as the Chief Guest, and ACP Gurdev Singh and ACP Traffic Gurpreet Singh as Guests of Honour. The university recognised police personnel from various ranks, including ACP, Inspector, Sub-Inspector, ASI, Head Constable, Senior Constable, Constable, and Clerk. The ceremony included cultural performances such as poetry recitals, dance, and singing, with students showcasing their talents and police officers demonstrating their skills. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony to express the university’s appreciation for the police department's tireless efforts.

Athletics Meet at HVM Convent

HVM Convent Sr. Sec. School, Karamsar Colony, New Subhash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, Ludhiana, hosted its much-awaited Annual Athletic Meet for the primary wing, filled with excitement and energy. It began with a colorful march past by the young athletes, followed by the lighting of the torch to symbolise sportsmanship and unity. School President D P Sharma inaugurated the event with an inspiring speech on the importance of sports in children's holistic development. The meet featured a range of events for the primary students, including races, relay competitions, sack races, obstacle courses, and fun games such as lemon-and-spoon and three-legged races. D . Sharma, Chairman S Dilbag Singh, along with the Management and Principal, congratulated the winners, who were awarded medals and certificates. All participants received tokens of appreciation for their spirited involvement. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a closing ceremony, leaving everyone with cherished memories of a fun-filled day.

Seminar on Stress Management

A seminar on ‘Stress Management’ was organised for Class XII students at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, Ludhiana. The event aimed to equip students with practical strategies to manage exam-related stress and perform to their full potential. The seminar, conducted by Dilsohaj Singh Grewal, began with an introduction to stress management techniques. The informative session focused on staying motivated, setting achievable goals, and handling stress effectively during exams.
