Campus notes: Eye camp organised
Victoria Public School
Ludhiana: Victoria Public School, in collaboration with HPS Eye Hospital, successfully concluded a three-day eye camp, offering free check-ups and consultations to students, staff and members of the surrounding community. This initiative aimed at raising awareness about eye health and the importance of early detection of vision problems among children and adults. A dedicated team of ophthalmologists and optometrists from HPS Eye Hospital, led by Dr Harminder Singh, conducted comprehensive eye examinations and provided personalised advice on eye care.
BCM School
BCM School, Chandigarh Road, Foundational Stage, organised a series of activities to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, International Literacy Day and National Nutrition Week. The events aimed at fostering creativity, cultural understanding and healthy habits among students. During Ganesh Chaturthi, Students made figurines of Lord Ganesha, using cotton buds and paper plates and sticking stones. These activities allowed the children to learn about their culture. For International Literacy Day, Nursery students helped the school helpers learn short sentences. National Nutrition Week, celebrated from September 2 to 7, encouraged students to eat healthy meals.
Arya College
National Nutirition Week was observed at Arya College Girls Section, Ludhiana. The programme comprised a poster-making competition on the importance of nutrition and health and preparation of nutritional dishes by students. The activity was taken on by the Home Science Department at the college. Kirandeep Kaur of BA first year stood first in the poster-making competition, while Nidhi Rana and Khushi of BA third year bagged the second and third positions, respectively. The best nutritional dish award was given to Pallavi of BA first year, whereas Swati Shukla and khushi of BA third year won the second and third positions, respectively. Principal Suksham Ahluwalia urged the students to eat healthy and nutritious food.
Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce
The Women Development Cell of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised an enlightening and empowering interactive session titled ‘From Awareness to Action: Mastering Self-Defence in Real-Life Situations’ on September 9. The session was conducted by Shihan Kamal Sharma, a renowned self-defence expert, and martial arts instructor. Sharma is a Black Belt 7th Dan (OGKI & WKF), Referee A (KIO) Judge B (AKF), General Secretary of District Ludhiana Karate Association. The event aimed at empowering female students with practical skills and knowledge in self-defence.
DAV Public School
Under the patronage of DAV Centre for Academic Excellence, New Delhi, DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana, ushered in a two-day capacity-building programme in the subjects of Hindi, Punjabi, ICT, Commerce, Economics and IP on September 9. Around 120 delegates from various branches of DAV schools congregated with the goal to chisel their classroom management skills and learn to provide child centered education to students.
Kamla Lohtia SD College
Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, students were delighted as singer Kamal Khan and his crew visited the college to promote his upcoming album 'Dadi Ammiye’. Khan and his team received a warm welcome. They thanked the students for the support.
Nankana Sahib Public School
Akashdeep Singh and Bikramjeet Singh of Class X of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, Ludhiana, brough laurels to the school by bagging the second and third spots, respectively in a quiz organised at the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre in PAU.
