Campus Notes: Kamla Lohtia SD College
Ludhiana: The students of Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, had an opportunity to interact with officials from the judiciary at the District Courts. Under the guidance of Prof Deepshikha of the Department of Political Science, the college students visited the courts. The purpose of the visit was to familiarise the students with the practical aspects of the judicial system, including court proceedings. The students had a meaningful interaction with Harvinder Singh, Secretary-cum-Chief Judicial Magistrate, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana, along with Vipin Kumar Dhir, District Attorney (retd) Pawan Kumar Ghai, senior advocate, Chetan Verma, president, District Bar Association, and vice-chairman, Bar Council, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, along with other senior advocates.

The career guidance and placement cell (CGPC) of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana, organised an informative session on ‘Cybersecurity as a Career: Is It the Right Fit for You?’ The session aimed at providing students with valuable insights into the field of cybersecurity, its growing importance, career opportunities, and the skills required to excel in the domain. The session was graced by two distinguished cybersecurity experts—Jatin Jain, a senior manager at CYTC Security Pvt Ltd, with over two decades of experience in web development, digital marketing, project management, and cybersecurity; and Pankaj Yadav, a cybersecurity speaker and cybercrime consultant, with expertise in incident response, data protection, and network security. At the onset of the session, the speakers provided an in-depth understanding of cybersecurity, its significance in today’s digital landscape, and various career prospects, such as ethical hacking, penetration testing, security analysis, and cyber law. They emphasised the importance of acquiring industry-recognised certifications like CEH, CISSP, CISM, and CompTIA Security+ and staying updated with the latest advancements in the field.

Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana, organised an interactive session on the contemporaneous issue of ‘Cyber Security as a Career: Right fit or not?,’ featuring illustrious experts Pankaj Yadav (chief executive officer of Cyber Yaan Training and Consultancy) and Jatin Jain (senior manager of Cyber Yaan Training and Consultancy) as keynote speakers. The esteemed speakers articulated that the exponential proliferation of digitisation had precipitated an unprecedented vulnerability of businesses to pernicious cyber threats, thereby catalysing an escalating demand for cybersecurity specialists to safeguard sensitive data.
