Campus notes: Mango Day observed

The HVM Convent Sr Sec School, Karamsar Colony, New Subhash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, Ludhiana, observed Mango Day Tiny tots of pre-nursery, nursery and LKG were dressed up in yellow and green with beautiful headgears. They enjoyed making their own craft with dry mango seeds. The objective behind conducting this activity was to spread awareness, promote creativity and spark the imagination of the little ones. The school on Thursday organised Hindi poem recitation and declamation competition’ for students of Classes III-V and Hindi declamation competition for students of Classes VI-X to help them develop oratory abilities and confidence. The students’ poems and speeches captivated both the audience and the judges. On this occasion, the school management and principal congratulated the winners, who were awarded with certificates and trophies.

Declamation contest

The budding orators of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, Ludhiana, showcased their oratory skills in an inter-class declamation contest. More than 20 students from Classes VI to VIII participated in it with enthusiasm. The budding speakers shared their views on the importance of time management, role of technology in education, global warming, paper books vs e-books, all that glitters is not gold, don’t judge a book by its cover, as you sow, so shall you reap. They kept everyone glued to their seats by their good intonation, pronunciation and above all confidence. The results of the declamation are as follows: Ekamveer Singh of Class VIII stood first, Harsimran of Class VI and Kanwalpreet Singh of Class VIII got second position. The third position was won by Abhishek Verma of Class VII and Dilpreet Kaur of Class VIII. The consolation prize was shared by Priyanshi of Class VIII and Avnoor of Class VII.

Turban tying competition

The gurmat sabha of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology organised a turban tying competition for its students. More than 50 students from BBA, BCA, Bcom (H), BHMCT, BSc (FD) participated in it. Students tied turbans of various eye catching colours and tried their hands at different styles like Patiala ‘shahi’, Amritsar style, ‘morni’ style, ‘vattaan wali’ style etc. Dr Harpreet Singh, principal, of the institute, said it was high time that the young men take pride in tying the turban and also to popularise it among the youth. Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, director, GGNIMT said such competition should be organised on regular basis to teach the importance of turban to the youth.

Inter-house mehndi competition

An inter-house mehndi competition was held in Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, for Classes VI -VIII on Friday. This competition was organized to seek and develop the traditional values among students. They participated enthusiastically in the competition and displayed their artistic designs through mehndi on their hands. The participants created beautiful designs on different themes.

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated

Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated in Arya College. On this occasion, secretary of Arya College managing committee SM Sharma said they should take inspiration from the lives of brave soldiers and take pledge to be always ready to protect the motherland. Principal of the college Suksham Ahluwalia while explaining the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas to the cadets said the historic day was remembered for the indomitable valour of the Army, true loyalty and bravery towards the country. The brave soldiers of the country sacrificed their lives to maintain the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

Kindergarten welcome party

To welcome new kindergarten students the GNIPS Ludhiana, BRS Nagar-I block organised a freshers’ party for the session 2024-25 recently. Tiny tots dressed in colourful attires and with million dollars smiles on their faces added spark to the event. A spate of activities like songs, dances and modelling were main attractions of the gala function. The participants were adorned with various titles. The party was a huge success, setting a positive tone for the academic year.
