Campus notes: PAU & PGIMER
Ludhiana: A millet quiz was jointly organised by the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics (PBG), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh, under the project 'MERA'. The quiz, which was designed for the promotion of millets in the state, was organised during the class in-charge level advisory meeting of the six-year BSc Agriculture (Hons) students. The students participated in the quiz enthusiastically. The quiz was coordinated by Dr Ruchika Bhardwaj and Dr Rachna Srivastava, scientist, PGIMER. The team 'bajra' comprising the students, Gopal, Mandeep and Deevansh, and the team 'kangni' comprising Gurmeen, Gursharandeep Kaur and Varidhi qualified for final round. Kangni team won the quiz and were awarded the gold medal, certificates and a gift pack of millet products.
Spring Dale Public School
Ludhiana: Students of Spring Dale Public School demonstrated their talents by participating in a series of ‘religious’ competitions held at Gurdwara Falahi Sahib, on the occasion of the death anniversary of Jathedar Santokh Singh Margindh. The event featured a range of competitions including Shabad Gayan, dumalla- and turban-tying, painting and Shudh Gurbani recitation. Spring Dale students excelled across these categories, securing cash prizes, certificates and medals. Yograj (IX) won the second prize in the dumalla-tying competition while Karamveer won the second prize in the Shudh Gurbani recitation competiton.
Guru nanak public school
Ludhiana: Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension, participated in the inter-school competition organised at Gurudwara Flahi Sahib. A total of 30 schools took part in the keenly-contested competition. GNPS students participated in various competitions and brought accolades to the school by winning many prizes. Students participated in Shabad Gayan, Shudh Gurbani Ucharan, dumalla- and turban-tying, and painting competitions. The GNPS team won the second prize in Shabad Gayan. Kivleen Kaur (IV) and Divkirat Singh (XI) secured the first and third positions, respectively, in the Shudh Gurbani Ucharan competition. Jasnoor (VIII) and Manjot (X) got the third and first position, respectively, in the turban-tying competition. For painting, Sargun (VIII) got the third position while Rangelina Kaur (IX) got the first position.
