Ludhiana: National Space Day was observed by the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) in collaboration with Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmadabad at PRSC, Ludhiana, wherein around 380 students, faculty, Scientists and staff participated. The chief guest Dr B Pateriya, director, PRSC stressed upon the importance of space technology and the lunar missions for the humankind. Dr VK Verma, group head, talked about the background of India’s lunar mission and welcomed the experts, students and faculty. Swastik Saini, scientist from SAC, narrated his inspirational journey in space science programme.

DAV Pakhowal road

Staff and students of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic passion on its campus. Keeping the spirit of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign alive, the national flag was hoisted by Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar. She talked about the importance of instilling the sentiments of nationalism and belongingness among the young citizens. Students showcased their patriotism and love for the country by participating in role-plays of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmi Bai, etc. Students bedecked their chests with handmade floral badges and decorated the classrooms with elaborate collages.

Spring dale public school

At Spring Dale Public School, students celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm, embracing the spirit of freedom. The school’s morning assembly began with the patriotic song ‘Saare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara’, captivating all present. The entire school was decorated in the colours of the Tricolour and the chants of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ filled the atmosphere with patriotism. Chairperson Avinash Kaur Walia extended heartfelt congratulations to all the students, parents and the entire staff on the occasion.

Sat Paul Mittal School

Students of Sat Paul Mittal School celebrated the 78th Independence Day with patriotic fervour. Students of classes III-V presented music and dance performances. An inter-house group song competition was organised for the students of classes VI to XII. Each house performed a unique patriotic music piece, contributing to the pervasive atmosphere of national pride and allegiance that filled the auditorium.

HVM convent sr sec school

HVM Convent Senior Secondary School, Karamsar Colony, New Subhash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, observed the 78th Independence Day with patriotic and cultural fervour. A special morning assembly was conducted in which the students delivered speeches, recited poems on the importance of independence. Drawing and colouring activity was conducted for the tiny tots of pre-nursery-LKG and a Tricolour crafting activity was conducted for the students of classes UKG-II. Students participated with avidity and demonstrated their dexterity and artistry.

Bhartiya vidya mandir

Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of 78th Independence Day, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Sector 39, organised a celebratory programme. A slew of events were organised to mark the day. Students dressed in the vibrant colours of the Tricolour — green, white and saffron — performed a medley of heart touching patriotic songs. Students participated in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally and a quiz competition organised by the school’s health and cultural club. The anticipation for the Independence Day programme was palpable on the faces of each student.

Khalsa college for women

The Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, organised a poster-making competition on the occasion of the Independence Day, under the theme ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). The event aimed to instil patriotism and encourage students to express their vision for a developed nation. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically, creating vibrant posters that showcased their creativity and imagination. Principal Dr Kamaljit Grewal congratulated the winners and emphasised the significance of the Independence Day, urging students to contribute to the nation’s growth and development.

BCM, dugri

BCM, Dugri, solemnly observed the August 14 as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’. The event aimed to educate students and staff about the largest displacement of human population in history, which also resulted in the loss of countless lives. The observance included a special presentation of a play curated by the National School of Drama (NSD). The play, with a script that vividly captured the harrowing events of the Partition, detailed its profound impact on lakhs of lives. The moving portrayal provided the students with a deeper understanding of this tragic chapter in South Asian history. TNS
