Campus notes: sant ishar singh ji memorial school
Ludhiana: Sant Ishar Singh Ji Memorial Public School, Karamsar Rara Sahib, hosted the zonal sports prize distribution ceremony. The event recognised the outstanding athletics achievements of students who excelled in the various zonal sports competitions. The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by the principal, Dr Dhiraj Kumar Thapliyal, who emphasised the importance of sports in holistic education. The chief guest, Dimple Madan, Ludhiana District Education Officer(Senior Secondary), in her speech, highlighted the value of discipline, teamwork and perseverance. Budding athletes from the various schools of the zone were honoured for their dedication and hard work. Medals, trophies and certificates were awarded.
Ryan international school
Students from Ryan International School, Jamalpur, attended a workshop organised by llAD Delhi. Spokespersons Subhashini and Gauri Rampal interacted with the students of classes XI and XII, engaging them in a variety of activities and competitions. All students used reusable and sustainable materials to create articles and dresses. They also got to know of the importance of utilising and using biodegradable products for a sustainable existence. The winning team, a group of seven students, was felicitated and certificates were given to all participants.
Sri aurobindo college
Career guidance and placement cell of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, in association with Hitbullseye, organised a talk on the topic ‘Empowering your future: Building a fulfilling career after graduation’. Anoop Ohri, an alumnus of IIM Lucknow, a professor of marketing with over fifteen years of experience and a corporate trainer, was the resource person. He detailed the various skills required to seek employment, urging the students to develop a well-groomed personality to succeed in the vocation of their choosing. Subsequently, Anoop addressed the students on how theoretical concepts of education worked in tandem with their real-world applications in important spheres of career, especially in interviews. He also provided the students with illustrations on how to construct effective resumes.
Shree atam vallabh jain college
Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College observed Teej with enthusiasm. College’s NSS unit and women development cell organised a cultural programme on the campus. Teej is marked by a celebration of nature and resplendent greenery due to a bounteous monsoon. Students took part in various stage and off stage performances. The hall was decorated with colourful phulkari dupattas, bangles and traditional pakkhis. Mehak Mutneja was declared Miss Teej, Parminder Kaur was declared the best dancer, Manmeet Kaur the best singer, Gunita and Nancy secured the first and second position for mehndi, respectively, Srishti was named Miss Punjabi Attire and Nancy was named Miss Punjabi Mutiyar.
PAU college of community science
Department of Human Development and Family Studies of the College of Community Science at PAU observed Teej to introduce children to the festive spirit and customs associated with the occasion. Dressed in vibrant traditional attire, the little ones engaged in a variety of activities, including singing, dancing and crafting. Teachers explained the significance of Teej in simple terms, making the day both educational and enjoyable for the children. Dean Dr Kiran Bains and Dr Seema Sharma, Head of the Department, along with the department’s faculty, joined the celebration. Dr Bains appreciated the efforts of the staff and emphasised the importance of cultural education for young children.
TSSM senior secondary school
TSSM Senior Secondary School, Shimlapuri, celebrated Teej on the school premises. Gurpal Kaur, president, and Daanish Grewal, director, presided over the inaugural ceremony. The programme commenced with Shabad Gayan. The aim of celebrating the festival was to acquaint the students of traditions which are losing their importance in modern society. The students engaged in activities such as mehndi art, crocheting, braiding, embroidery and making seviyan on earthen pot. Japji Gill was named Miss Teej. TNS
