Campus notes: School hosts letter writing contest
MGM Public School recently organised the national-level ‘Dhahi Akhar’ Letter Writing Competition, with the theme ‘The Joy of Writing: Importance of Letters in the Digital Age’. Students were tasked with writing a letter to the Chief Postmaster General, reflecting on the significance of letter writing in today’s digital world. The competition, conducted in both English and Hindi, was designed to revive the art of letter writing and emphasise the emotions associated with it. Teachers Manureet Singh and Shikha Sethi guided the students in preparing their letters, helping them understand the beauty and nostalgia of handwritten correspondence. The students’ participation was exceptional, with many showcasing a blend of emotion and aesthetics in their writing. The principal, Ranjana Kaushal praised the students for their interest in letter writing, encouraging them to continue exploring this valuable form of communication.
Kids inspires with science exhibition
On 30th January 2025, Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, hosted a science exhibition aimed at fostering curiosity and innovation among students. The event was graced by Dr Jaswinder Singh, a National Awardee and President of IAPT RC-2, as the Chief Guest and Dr Harpreet Kaur Grewal, Head of the Applied Sciences Department at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, as the Guest of Honour. Students from classes III to VII and Class IX participated in the exhibition, showcasing creative models, taking part in quizzes and presenting skits, role plays, poems and storytelling sessions. Parents, as special invitees, provided additional enthusiasm and support. The models were presented under various themes, such as the Magic of Science, Eco Art, Rejuvenating Mother Earth, Biodiversity, Food and Health, Green Energy, Electricity and Magnetism, Uncovering the Secrets of Space, Fun with Light, Chemistry in Everyday Life and Innovations for a Sustainable Future. The exhibition displayed the students’ deep understanding of scientific principles, with projects focusing on renewable energy, environmental conservation, and futuristic technologies. The interactive demonstrations and experiments captivated visitors, providing valuable learning experiences. Parents were impressed by the innovative approach taken to address modern-day challenges and applauded the students’ efforts.
Arshdeep Singh shines in Karate
Arshdeep Singh made BCM Arya, Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana, proud with his remarkable achievements in Karate. Demonstrating exceptional perseverance, he was recently honoured by the Government of Punjab and felicitated by Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Punjab, on 26th January 2025, at a ceremony held at PAU, Ludhiana. This recognition was in honour of his outstanding performance in the National Karate Tournament. Arshdeep’s dedication and skill have earned him multiple accolades, including a gold medal in the 2023-24 session and a silver medal in the 2024-25 session. His consistent success serves as an inspiration to other aspiring athletes, setting a new benchmark for excellence. Arshdeep’s journey is a powerful example of the importance of perseverance and sportsmanship, motivating the entire BCM Arya community to pursue their dreams relentlessly.
stress management talk in college
A motivational talk on ‘Stress Management through Spirituality for the Younger Generation’ was organised at Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, with Colonel Manoj Sharma as the keynote speaker. In his address, Col Sharma identified overthinking, unrealistic expectations and worrying about the past and future as major causes of stress, depression and anxiety. He emphasised the importance of self-control, positive thought management and spirituality — connecting with God — to find inner peace and overcome mental health challenges, including anger and depression, especially among young people. Col Sharma concluded his talk with the inspiring words, “When prayer becomes a habit, miracles happen in life.” Endorsing his message, the principal, Dr Mohd. Saleem, urged students to be more patient, tolerant and dutiful, helping them stay stress-free in their lives.
Basant Panchami in Spring Dale
Spring Dale Public School celebrated Basant Panchami with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour. The day, dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom, music and learning, began with prayers and offerings at her lotus feet. Students captivated the audience with holy hymns in honour of the Goddess. The Kindergarten children wore vibrant yellow attire and enjoyed yellow-themed delicacies from their tiffin boxes. They also took part in the traditional ritual of writing the alphabet on sand, symbolising the auspicious beginning of education. Additionally, the young learners showcased their creativity by making beautiful yellow sunflowers, which added to the celebratory atmosphere.
Martyrs’ Day at Arya College
Martyrs’ Day was observed with reverence at Arya College Girls’ Section, under the aegis of the Gandhian Study Centre. A programme was organised to commemorate the life and sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi, beginning with a floral tribute to the Father of the Nation. Both students and staff members paid heartfelt homage to Gandhi. As part of the event, a bookmark-making competition and a paper reading competition were organised, with students presenting their views on the topic “Mahatma Gandhi: Source of Inspiration.” The event also featured bhajans and shabads, honouring Gandhi’s messages. Dr SM Sharma, Secretary of ACMC, applauded the students’ efforts and reminded everyone to draw inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s life and values.
