Ludhiana: Students of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) celebrated Teej with exuberance. Various activities such as fancy dress, traditional dress up, group dance, boliyan, tappe, solo folk dance, stalls, ramp walk, modelling, giddha, bhangra and mehndi competitions were organised. The students donned ethnic Punjabi attire to celebrate the festival. Principal Upasna Modgil applauded the preparation and creativity of the students. She appreciated the joint efforts of the students and teachers and said that the aim of organising such cultural activities was to help students connect with their culture.

Workshop on Financial Literacy

A workshop on ‘Financial literacy and use of digital tools’ was held at Darshan Academy for teachers. Retired Bank Manager Jasvinder Singh Sohal was the resource person for the session. He emphasised the importance of financial knowledge and the efficient use of digital financial tools. The workshop covered various types of goals, mutual funds and its benefits, basics of financial and retirement planning, banking and digital payments along with its do’s and don’ts, life insurance and use of various digital platforms for financial management. Teachers engaged in interactive activities and discussions, enhancing their financial acumen and preparedness to integrate these concepts into their daily life. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by the academic coordinator Narinder Kaur for conducting a fruitful and insightful session for the staff.

Inter-school art competition

An inter-school art competition ‘Design Garage’ was organised by Charcoal at Palm Court, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana. Students of Ryan International School, Jamalpur, Ludhiana, won various prizes. The MF Husain award was won by Aishanya; Amrita Shergill award by Prakriti; Nandlal Bose by Pranay; and the Vincent Van Gogh by Gaurav. Priyal Kakkar won the consolation prize, and the third prize in dress designing was won by a team of 15 students. The overall winner in the competition was Ryan International School.

Session on entrepreneurship

Young Entrepreneurship Network of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised a session on the topic ‘The Startup Ecosystem: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities’. Lokesh Jain (Chairman CII-Ludhiana chapter) was the resource person. Principal Vishal Kumar welcomed the speaker and exhorted students to gain valuable insights from the discourse. The session provided a comprehensive and insightful roadmap for budding entrepreneurs looking to establish and elevate themselves as future entrepreneurs in the competitive business landscape. He emphasised the significance of the three letters: W, H and Y—representing ‘What, How, and Why’—in identifying market gaps and opportunities for innovation and redesigning products or services. He encouraged the students to create vision and mission statements, even for family businesses, as these help in defining goals and setting a clear path for achieving them. He also highlighted that ‘network is net worth’ was an essential principle when embarking on an entrepreneurial journey.

Students visit space centre

Students from Science stream of classes IX-XII of Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana, visited the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota Range (SDSC – SHAR), ISRO, which is one of India’s leading space centres. As many as 20 students had the honour to be a part of the visit from July 24 to 26. During this educational visit, the students got the opportunity to interact with the ISRO scientists which helped them gain information about the upcoming Indian space missions, space exploration and cutting-edge technology. The students participated in a variety of activities, including guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility and demonstrations showcasing latest advancements in space research. The trip aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of space science and inspire them to pursue careers in this field. The visit aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of space science and ignite their passion for potential careers in this field. The experience was a significant educational opportunity for the students, providing them with in-depth knowledge of space science and quantum physics. By witnessing the complex processes behind India’s space endeavours, the students gained a profound appreciation of the nation’s achievements in space exploration and the pivotal role of science and technology in driving innovation.
