The complainant, Ekjot Singh Chawla, a resident of Sarabha Nagar, in a complaint submitted to the police stated that since July 23, he had been receiving repeated threat calls through WhatsApp from some anonymous person on his mobile number.

“The caller had been threatening me by saying that he has complete details of me and even of the recent bought property. He told me that in case I don’t agree to them, they will show me some samples. They even threatened me by saying that they will send shooters to my home in Ludhiana and my native place in Jalandhar. He mentioned his name as Ankit Pahelwan, claiming that he has links with gangster Goldy Brar. I request you to please look into the matter and take appropriate action against the suspects and also give police protection to me and my family,” he stated.

After registering a case, the Ludhiana police have launched a probe and the phone number from which the extortion call was received has also been put on surveillance. The police suspected that some miscreants could be calling the businessman by posing as the close aide of Goldy. However, a probe was launched to trace the caller.
