Dr Ashima Taneja, Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), has achieved a remarkable feat by setting the world record for being the ‘fastest to deliver a baby during a Caesarean section surgery’ in 65 seconds. Dr Taneja broke the earlier documented record of 2 minutes, and she was recognised by the International Book of Records.
Dr Taneja thanked her team and the management for their support. “Fast and efficient Caesarean deliveries play a critical role in saving the lives of both the mother and the baby during emergency situations such as foetal distress, placental complications, obstetric emergencies, and peri-arrest Caesareans, where the baby has to be delivered within 1-4 minutes. This record-breaking achievement highlights the exceptional teamwork, precision, and coordination of my team,” said Dr Taneja.
