City revellers make plans for Christmas, New Year celebrations amid IndiGo crisis

As the crisis of IndiGo Airlines seems to be resolving with more flights becoming operational in past two days, residents of the city who wish to go abroad for Christmas and New Year celebrations, have started enquiring about packages.

Travel agents said for the past some time, trust of people on air travel had come down but with the restoration of flights by Indigo, residents are coming up to enquire about best packages.

Talking to The Tribune, Pawan Bhatia from Oneness Air Travel said Dubai seems to be the favourite destination for most of the travellers. “The winter break is short so people plan holidays accordingly. But Dubai is again a favourite destination for residents as it is growing in Real Estate. Hence, people plan to travel with families to explore business point of view also,” said Bhatia, adding that the package of Dubai is also nominal to the tune of about Rs 75,000 per person.

Meanwhile, Rupjit Saggar from Saggar World Holidays said residents also wanted to visit Australia, New Zealand, besides Bali, Singapore for the simple reason that visas for Australia were available within five-six days.

At the same time, Mrinal Bhasin Director Operations from ASL travels Private Limited said people wish to explore new destinations.

“With us, enquiries are coming for Sri Lanka in good number as the country is fast catching as a good tourist destination for holding parties or other events. If we are getting 10 enquiries daily, 3-4 clients are showing interest in Sri Lanka as packages are also reasonable. For four nights, five days package, it would be about Rs 70,000 per person, including air travel, four star stay, visa fee and sightseeing. Besides, Dubai and Thailand are other regular destinations, where people wish to go to celebrate New Year and Christmas,” he said.
