Civic body demolishes illegal liquor vend in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, July 13

Acting against illegal constructions, the municipal corporation demolished an illegal liquor vend, established near Karabara Chowk on Saturday.

Assistant Town Planner (ATP-Zone A) MS Bedi said the owner was establishing the illegal liquor vend on a vacant land near Karabara Chowk. The area residents submitted a complaint to the civic body, following which the illegal vend was demolished.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-MC Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney issued strict directions to the building branch to take stern action against illegal buildings in the city.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
