Civic body holds plastic plogging drive in Ludhiana

Continuing the special cleanliness drive on the third consecutive day on Wednesday, Municipal Corporation (MC) organised plastic plogging and collection drives in open areas/parks/roadsides in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

The initiative has been taken under the five-day special cleanliness drive launched on the directions of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The plastic plogging and collection drives were organised in different open areas and green belts/parks in Sarabha Nagar, old GT road, Haibowal, Sarabha Nagar, Lohara, Sunet, Sherpur chowk, Gill road among other areas on Wednesday.

MC Joint Commissioner Inderpal said the five-day special cleanliness drive commenced on August 19 and garbage vulnerable points (GVP) are being removed from different parts of the city. The plastic plogging drives would also be organised on Thursday and the collected plastic waste would be sent to material recover facilities (MRF) for recycling purposes. On August 23, Harit - Punjab City Compost (compost prepared from the wet waste) would be distributed among the residents free of cost by organising camps in different parts of the city.

MC chief Sandeep Rishi appealed to the residents to participate in the drive and support the authorities in solid waste management.
