Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly making a baseless statement in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The former was in the city to inaugurate a newly constructed railway healthcare facility on Saturday.

“Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann talks about irrelevant things in Assembly sessions. He claims that he is seeking an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi but not granted the same. Mann should not mislead the people by saying such a thing. When the state was flooded, Home Minister Amit Shah formed a special team and it also visited Punjab. The team has also prepared a report. If Mann wants to meet, he should meet the Home Minister. Why is Mann afraid of Shah? Is he afraid that he might be asked about details of Rs 12,000-crore SDRF funds?

Bittu asserted that when Mann sought time from the PM, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) informed him that the team that visited flood-affected areas in the state would present its report to the Home Minister. Mann should meet Shah and present his case for the benefit of the people of Punjab. The Home Ministry will send the report to the Prime Minister. Mann should refrain from politicising floods.

Meanwhile, while talking about the newly inaugurated health facility, the minister said it was built at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore and the state-of-the-art facility spans 1,800 sq m and is designed to offer medical services to railway employees and their families.

Bittu also inaugurated the newly redeveloped Railway Colony in the Civil Lines, near Fountain Chowk, here.
