CMCH hosts Vision 2020 India meet

Ludhiana, July 9

The Department of Ophthalmology, Christian Medical College and Hospital, hosted the 18th edition of Vision 2020: the Right to Sight India annual conference recently.

The conference was attended by heads of eye care organisations, prominent ophthalmologists, administrators, optometrists, coordinators, outreach and paramedical staff from government and non-government organisations from all over the country to update themselves about the latest trends and innovations in community ophthalmology.

The conference was conducted under the guidance of Vision 2020 India’s president Dr Rajesh Saini and Dr William Bhatti, director, CMCL. The theme of the year was ‘Vision 2020 to 2030: Insights and Path Ahead’.

The conference started off with workshops on the first day and the following two days were filled with scientific sessions which were attended by over 600 delegates.

The conference was inaugurated by Ludhiana MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring where he applauded the work of the department and Christian Medical College in organising the conference.

Awards were given to numerous eye hospitals who were doing admirable field work in the community and thereby bridging the gap between the people and eye care.

Vision 2020 has worked towards reducing the burden of avoidable blindness by enabling various eye health organisations to enrich their community ophthalmology wing.

The conference provided a platform for eye care hospitals to showcase their involvement in the field.

The conference was concluded with Sathish Nagappan, CBM India Trust, being awarded for the best of paper presentation.
