Ludhiana: Members of the Rotaract Club of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) visited Teri Oat Viklang Sanstha, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), on Monday and celebrated Lohri with the physically challenged kids of the NGO. The students also collected funds, saving money from their pocket money over the months to buy sweets, popcorn, and other Lohri special delicacies for the children of the NGO. The students lit a bonfire and danced around it together, warming the surroundings and their hearts. These initiatives inculcate a sense of gratitude and belongingness among students towards the society. The volunteers got to see the real-world challenges that are faced by these children. The trip was not only beneficial for the special children but also contributed to reducing the volunteers’ own stress. Principal Dr Kamaljit Grewal appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers of the club in having organised the event.

In a gesture of giving back to nature, the volunteers planted saplings on the gurdwara premises. Later, they visited the government primary school in the village, where they conducted an engaging session on the importance of healthy eating habits and the transformative power of education. With interactive discussions and motivational stories, they encouraged the students to dream big and pursue higher education. The volunteers distributed stationery and sweets.
