The railway overbridge (ROB) on Pakhowal Road has been shut for traffic for the next three days, beginning Friday morning. The ROB was closed for a deflection test (load test).
Commuters were taken aback upon seeing the ROB closed and had to look for alternate routes, due to which a huge rush was witnessed in Sarabha Nagar and Model Town Extension.
“Every day I go to my office through the ROB, and today I found it closed and had to go through Sarabha Nagar. It is a newly built bridge, and I don’t know why it has been closed,” said Harish, a resident of Punjab Mata Nagar.
Another resident said work on multiple projects was being undertaken in the city, and people were left with no other option but to adopt alternate routes. “Ludhiana is a congested city and needs proper planning and management so that traffic can be eased,” he added.
Both the railway underbridges (RUB) on the Pakhowal Road railway crossing will remain open as usual for traffic.
From Pakhowal Road Canal Bridge, residents can use the RUB and reach Bhai Bala Chowk through Sarabha Nagar and Hero Bakery Chowk or go through Model Town Extension to reach Hero Bakery Chowk, which leads to Bhai Bala Chowk.
