The Computer Adhyapak Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, held a massive protest to draw attention to their long-standing demands here on Thursday. The computer teachers said they had been struggling for long but the state government’s lackadaisical approach had forced them to intensify their agitation.

The teachers gathered outside the PAU’s gate No.1 under extreme weather conditions and protested against the AAP government. The protesters had come from various districts to gather there. They started with a protest march towards the office of MP Sanjeev Arora, raising slogans against the ruling government for not giving a patient hearing to their just demands.

The teachers rued that bureaucracy was further causing obstacles and they were not being given any relief. They said that the families of 106 teachers, who had lost their lives, were not given any compensation by the government. The teachers said various meetings were held and instructions were passed on in papers because these have never been implemented in their favour.

It may be mentioned here that the computer teachers had also sat on a protest and hunger strike for several days. The teachers threatened to launch a door-to-door campaign against the AAP government in the upcoming Ludhiana West by-poll if their demands were not met.

As part of his campaign for the Ludhiana West by-elections, Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Parupkar Singh Ghumman spent the day standing with the protesting teachers and meeting residents to address urgent local concerns. Ghumman joined the Computer Teachers’ Struggle Committee protest at Punjab Agricultural University’s Gate No. 1, condemning the government’s use of police force to disperse a peaceful assembly. He reminded everyone that citizens and public servants alike have been let down by broken promises—and that even the recent suspension of a PAU employee was met with baton charges rather than dialogue.
