As the western disturbances settle and skies clear over the state, Ludhiana is beginning to feel the first nip of winter. The city, which saw intermittent rainfall last month, is now waking up to crisp mornings and cool evenings, with temperatures hovering between 18°C and 30°C.
“The air has changed,” said Harpreet Kaur, a resident of Sarabha Nagar. “After the recent rains, there’s a definite chill in the mornings and evenings. It feels like winter is knocking at our doors.”
According to the Meteorological Centre, the state will remain dry over the coming week, with no rain forecasted across the state. Ludhiana is expected to enjoy clear skies and bright sunshine during the day, while night time temperatures will stay close to 18°C. Experts predict that the mercury will not cross 20°C during the night for at least another week.
“The weather is ideal for ripening crops,” said an agricultural expert. “Last month’s extended rainfall delayed the maturity of paddy in several areas. This dry spell and sunny days will help the crop finish well, while the slight atmospheric moisture will prevent stress.”
Daytime temperatures across urban Punjab are currently averaging around 30°C, with a slight rise of 2–3 degrees expected in the coming days. However, the overall temperature remains 2.2°C below normal, despite a 0.4°C increase in the past 24 hours.
A restaurant owner, Aman Sharma, noted that there had been a seasonal shift in customer preferences. “People are asking for hot soups and masala chai again. The evenings are cooler, and there’s a cozy vibe returning to the city.”
With the festive season approaching and the weather turning pleasant, Ludhiana’s residents are embracing the transition. The city’s parks are filling up with morning walkers wrapped in light shawls, and the scent of roasted peanuts is beginning to waft through local markets.
