Cops check security arrangements at Ludhiana jewellery shops

Under the directions of Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma, a special campaign was carried out by the Ludhiana police to further strengthen the city’s security arrangements.

As part of the campaign, Vaibhav Sehgal, ADCP–4, Sumit Sood, Assistant Commissioner of Police (East), and Inderjit Singh Boparai, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Industrial Area-A), along with the Station House Officer of Police Division 7 and officials from Zone 4 police stations, conducted detailed inspections of jewellery shops and establishments equipped with large CCTV systems.

During the inspections, the ADCP-4 held detailed discussions with jewellery shop owners regarding their security arrangements. Essential instructions were issued regarding CCTV camera coverage, footage storage systems, night-time security measures, panic alarm systems and strong locking mechanisms.

ADCP Vaibhav Sehgal said jewellery shops and major business establishments were often considered soft targets by criminals. Hence, high-quality CCTV cameras, 15–30 days of footage storage, and 360° coverage inside and outside the shops were deemed essential.

He added that strong security arrangements not only helped prevent crimes but also significantly assisted in investigations.

During the inspection, the SHOs and police teams concerned were also present. They examined various locations, identified shortcomings and issued immediate instructions for improvements.

The Commissioner of Police said such inspections would continue regularly across the city for crime prevention and public safety remains the top priority for the police.
