Students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) continued their protest for the second day and held discussions from 11 am to 1 pm at PAU Gate No 1. Addressing the protest, student leaders said the government has discontinued agriculture as a subject in schools, a move that is unfavourable for the development of agriculture.

Moreover, the elimination of thousands of posts has also led to unemployment.

“The CM’s promise of appointing agricultural teachers in villages is yet to be fulfilled. It is the government’s responsibility to provide employment to skilled hands, which all governments have neglected so far,” said student Angrez Singh.

Students said they were left with no other option but to follow the path of protest.
