Since a factory collapsed at Phase 8, Focal Point, in Ludhiana on Saturday evening, a rescue operation has been under way for the past 20 hours. While a factory worker — identified as Jitender of Bihar — was found dead when taken out from the debris, over a dozen others have already been rescued by the NDRF and the fire department. Two workers, however, are still fear trapped.

Family members of the trapped workers have been camping outside the factory since last night. They said they still had hope that their loved ones would come out alive.

These trapped workers are Bunty (37), a native of Ludhiana, and Lallan Yadav, a native of Bihar.

As per Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, NDRF jawans have been working overnight to remove the debris carefully and hopefully two who are feared trapped under the debris will also be taken out alive.

Notably, the incident occurred yesterday evening around 5.30 pm when during the renovation work, roof of the ground floor collapsed leading the collapse of upper floors and the entire building.
