Ludhiana (Central) MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi along with Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal inspected the ongoing work to cover Dharampura nullah (from Shingar cinema till Gaughat cremation ground) and issued directions for expediting the works.
The MC has got the project designed from IIT Roorkee to cover around 250 metres of nullah. Retaining wall and concrete base of the nullah would be constructed at a cost of Rs 9.50 crore. Superintending Engineer (SE) Ranjit Singh among other officials were also present during the inspection.
Prashar said residents had been demanding this project since long, but previous governments did not pay heed to the issue. He said this project would not only give a cleaner look to the area, but would also help in streamlining the movement of traffic. The project would be completed within three months and it would provide major relief to residents.
The MLA added that another project was being taken up wherein a flood gate would be established at “Buddha Nullah” point near cremation ground to stop accumulation of water in Dharampura and nearby areas during monsoon.
He said like Shivaji Nagar nullah, Dharampura nullah would be covered. “Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working to develop quality infrastructure across the state. A large number of development projects are being taken up in Ludhiana (Central) segment,” said
the MLA.
