Dist gears up for ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’

The ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan 2025’ will officially start in Ludhiana with games beginning at the block level on September 4.

Competitions will be held across 14 blocks in the district from September 4 to 13. Presiding over a meeting, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated that matches from September 4 to 6 would be held at Naresh Chandra Stadium in Khanna, Sports ground in Sidhwan Bet, GHG Khalsa College Improvement, Sudhar, and Santokh Singh Margind Sports Stadium in Dule village, Ludhiana 1.

From September 8 to 10, venues will be Government Senior Secondary School in Siad Maloud, Jagraon’s sports stadium in Bhanmipura village, Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Machhiwara, Pakhowal sports stadium in Latala village and Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana. For events to be held from September 11 to 13, venues will be Government Senior Secondary School in Sahnewal, sports stadium in Kila Raipur, Mehma Singh Wala Stadium in Dehlon, Sant Ishr Singh Stadium in Doraha, sports stadium in Raikot and Government Senior Secondary School in Manki, Samrala.

Various sports events, including athletics, long jump, shotput, kabaddi (national style) and (circle style), kho-kho, volleyball smashing and volleyball shooting, will be held during these days.

Jain said Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, a flagship statewide sports festival designed to foster mass participation in sports, encourage physical fitness and promote fair play among residents of all ages. He added that the annual event, organised by the state government, continues its mission to build a healthier, drug-free Punjab while including para-sports and emphasising anti-doping measures.
