Participants from Swim Force unit stamped their supremacy as they bagged the overall trophy in the two-day Ludhiana District Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Swimming Championship, organised by the Ludhiana District Swimming Association (LDSA), which concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) swimming pool here on Sunday.

In the girls’ junior section (Groups I and II), PAU Club swimmers emerged winners while the Swim Force unit finished as runners-up. In the girls sub-junior category (Groups III and IV), Ludhiana Club romped home winners and Swim Force unit secured the second position.

PAU Club also came out triumphant in the boys’ sub-junior section (Groups III and IV) while Swim Force unit had to content with the second position. In the boys’ junior category (Groups I and II), Swim Force unit etched its name on winners’ trophy and PAU Club finished as runners-up.

Former Punjab minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, vice-chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, gave away prizes to the position holders. Simrandeep Singh Sohi, Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, and Navkiran Singh Sidhu, State Tax Officer, were the guests of honour at the prize distribution function.

Balraj Sharma, honorary general secretary, Ludhiana District Swimming Championship, congratulated the winners and thanked the organising team at the successful conclusion of the championship. Sharma said participants’ performance during this championship will be taken into consideration while finalsing the district teams for the upcoming 47th Sub-Junior and Junior Punjab State Swimming Championship, slated to be held here at the PAU on July 20 and 21.
