A scholarship programme worth over Rs 6 crore for the academic year 2025–26 was launched today to promote and nurture inclusive, merit-based medical education in Punjab. This first-of-its-kind initiative by a private medical institution in the state aims to make medical education more accessible to deserving students who lack financial means. The scholarships reinforce DMCH’s mission to support community healthcare by building a strong pipeline of healthcare professionals.

The DMCH Managing Society will award over five dozen scholarships across several distinct categories. These are targeted at meritorious, economically disadvantaged and deserving students pursuing MBBS, BSc Nursing and paramedical courses. Provisions have also been made for the families of defence personnel. The scholarships aim to enhance access to quality medical education and promote academic excellence.

Outlining the rationale behind the scholarships, Bipin Gupta, secretary, DMCH Managing Society, said, “Education is a powerful equaliser and at DMCH we believe that financial constraints should not keep deserving students from fulfilling their dreams. For many decades we have been providing quality medical care at affordable prices to a wide section of society; this initiative fits well with our vision for inclusivity and also helps create an opportunity for those who otherwise may not have a chance.”

There will also be multiple recognitions and prizes for existing DMCH students based on academic achievements, sports and other areas. For MBBS aspirants, the merit-based category will offer three full-course scholarships, including hostel fees, to the top ten Punjab NEET rank holders and five partial scholarships to those within the top 25 NEET ranks in Punjab. A special provision has been made for children of serving personnel in the Indian armed forces (Army, Air Force and Navy). The BSc Nursing programme receives a major boost with ten full scholarships and twenty half scholarships for deserving students based on merit. For those pursuing BSc and diploma paramedical courses, eight scholarships, both full and partial, will be offered to economically constrained candidates.
