Department of Pharmacology of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital is observing the fourth national pharmacovigilance week from September 17-23. A session on the theme of ‘building adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting culture’ was held today at the auditorium of the medical college.

Principal Dr G S Wander highlighted the importance of pharmacovigilance. It was crucial for medical students as it helped in clinical practice, emphasising the need to monitor and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to protect patients, the principal added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dean Academics and HoD Pharmacology, Dr Sandeep Kushal, highlighted the purpose of celebrating the event and said it was the ethical responsibility of doctors to ensure the well-being of patients by monitoring and reporting any potential harm caused by medicines.

The event featured a ‘reel making’ competition by the MBBS batch of 2022. MBBS students from the 2023 batch also attended the event.

The judges, Dr Puneet Pooni, Dr Navkiran Mahajan and Dr Veenu Gupta lauded the creativity, and originality of the students.
