DMCH team provides medical care to needy in areas affected by deluge

To extend best medical care to the flood-affected regions of Punjab and the nearby areas, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana, has initiated a public outreach programme by forming a dedicated flood relief team. As part of this initiative, ambulance services, free medical check-up camps, and essential support are being provided to the affected communities.

In support of this noble cause, an expert team of volunteers comprising senior doctors and paramedical staff of the institute under the guidance of Dr GS Wander are actively participating in the relief work in different districts of the state.

A dedicated team of specialists, led by Dr Bishav Mohan, Chief Cardiologist and Coordinator, HDHI, along with Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Professor and Head of Medicine; Dr Vipin Kumar, Associate Professor of Medicine; Dr Samir Kapoor; Dr Ankit Gulia; Dr Prabhleen; and Dr Sandeep Sran, actively participated in the ongoing relief work today. They were supported by a dedicated group of postgraduate students, nursing staff, ward boys and support staff, who worked tirelessly to extend timely medical aid to those in need.

The team established a fully equipped critical care unit in a remote flood-affected areas of Ferozepur district, covering villages including Ruknewala, Baghewala, and Jalloke and in Amritsar at Ajnala. The residents of these areas received free medical consultations, medicines, and essential eatable items.

Dr GS Wander, Principal, DMCH, said , “Such outreach programmes highlight the spirit of teamwork and compassion at the hospital. I deeply appreciate efforts of our doctors, staff, and volunteers who selflessly worked to bring medical aid and relief to the flood-affected areas.”

Dr Bishav Mohan said, “Our flood relief team is equipped to handle emergencies like heart attacks, snake bites, trauma, and injuries, with advanced ambulance services ensuring timely care. At the DMCH, we believe in reaching out to people in distress with not just medical treatment, but also compassion and reassurance during such crises.” He said, “We are committed to continuing our efforts until normalcy is restored, ensuring that no life is left unattended. Beyond immediate medical care, we also aim to support rehabilitation efforts, enabling affected families to rebuild their lives with strength and dignity.”
