Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) has been honoured with the prestigious “National Geospatial Practitioner Award-2025.” Dr Koyel Sur, a scientist at PRSC, received the National Award for Women of Excellence in Geospatial Science and Technology. The awards were presented by Kiran Kumar, Member of the Space Commission and former Chairman of ISRO, during the Open-Source GIS Day 2025 celebrations which took place at IIT Mumbai.
The ‘National Geospatial Awards 2025’ aim to recognise contributors to the advancement of geospatial technology in India across various sectors, including institutions, academia, industry professionals and individuals.
Dr Brijendra Pateriya, Director of Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, described the award as a significant honour and a testament to the centre’s dedicated efforts in promoting open-source technology. He highlighted Punjab Remote Sensing Centre’s role in executing multiple projects for Punjab government departments, ISRO centres, the Department of Science and Technology and other ministries, alongside its extensive capacity-building initiatives for students and professionals.
