Drone training equips NCC girl cadets with emerging technology

As part of the ongoing Annual Training Camp of the 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, Ludhiana, a special drone training session was conducted to upskill NCC girl cadets in emerging technologies. The camp, being held from June 17 to 26 at the historic Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, is being conducted under the leadership of Camp Commandant Colonel RS Chauhan.

The drone training was led by Training Officer Karnail Singh from the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Ludhiana, who introduced cadets to the fundamentals of drone technology, operations and its wide-ranging applications in defence, agriculture, surveillance and disaster management. The session included both theoretical and hands-on training, where cadets learnt about drone parts, controls, safety protocols and basic piloting skills.

This initiative aimed to equip the cadets with relevant technical knowledge, aligning with the government’s focus on skill development and self-reliance under the “Skill India” mission. Cadets showed keen interest and actively participated in live demonstrations and flying exercises.

Colonel RS Chauhan commended the effort and said, “In today’s world, it is important that our cadets are not only physically and mentally strong but also technologically aware. Training in drone operation opens new possibilities for learning and future careers.”

The session was highly appreciated by all cadets and staff, as it added a modern and futuristic dimension to the traditional training structure of the NCC. The Annual Training Camp continues to serve as a dynamic platform for nurturing discipline, leadership and technical competence among young women.
