The police claimed to have nabbed eight persons involved in snatching and theft incidents that occurred in several areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Ludhiana Commissionerate and police district.
Seven two-wheelers and a purse containing valuables and cash were recovered from the possession of the suspects.
DSP, Dakha, Varinder Singh Khosa, said police personnel, led by Dakha SHO Hamraj Singh, had arrested a notorious snatcher, Harwinder Singh, of Mullanpur on Thursday and recovered a purse that was snatched from Jasvir Kaur when she was commuting with her husband Surinder Singh on a motorcycle on November 21.
The suspect, who is already booked under at least six cases at various police stations, was identified and nabbed on the basis of investigation.
As per information, investigating officer Balwinder Singh from the Ladhowal police station had arrested Gagandeep Singh and Balwinder of Maniyewal on Wednesday and recovered three stolen motorcycles from them.
The Daresi police had recovered one stolen motorcycle by arresting Gaurav and Vikas of Bharti Colony here and the Tibba police had arrested Azir Akhtar and Mohammad Sazim of Gautam Colony, Ludhiana, with two stolen motorcycles.
Sarabjit Singh of Guru Arjun Dev Nagar, Moga, was nabbed with a stolen Honda Activa by a police team led by Amanpreet Singh, posted at the Sarabha Nagar police station.
